 NEWS

This year we will host the 10th Annual “Shoot for Life” on Saturday, August 2, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  This Sporting Clays Tournament will benefit the Alpha Family Center of Cedar Springs.  The $40 entry fee will include 50 targets, 2 boxes of either 12 or 20 gauge shells, and a catered lunch.  Since this year we plan to send out a squad every 10 minutes, please call for squad times and to pre-register.  This helps us budget our time and resources more effectively.

I am sure we all actively support wildlife and shooting organizations that benefit and protect the animals and sports we pursue.  We hope you will also consider the vital human needs that Alpha provides.  If you cannot attend the shoot but would like to help support Alpha, you may find information at their
website:

www.alphafamilycentercs.org

Please call about sponsoring a Shooting Station for $100 per station, and as alwaysvolunteers and donations are greatly appreciated!

The 19th Annual Haymarsh Pig Roast/ Potluck will again be held the first Saturday after Labor Day, September 6.  We’ll start eating around 1:00 p.m.  We will furnish the roast pork, roast lamb, baked potatoes, drinks, and table service.  All you need to bring is your family, a dish to pass, and a big appetite.

Also on the 6th, at 10:00 a.m. we will open the Sporting Clays course for 25-target rounds.  If you have never shot Sporting Clays, this would be a great way to try it out.  The cost will be $6.00 per round, and, as always, youth 16 and under shoot for free if accompanied by a responsible, shooting adult.

Our Sporting Clays has been a little slow this year, but we will continue to shoot Mondays and Thursdays, 6 p.m. ‘til dusk and Tuesdays at 9 a.m. until August 30th.  Rounds of 50 targets will be reduced to $12, our price in 2001.  Youth 16 and under may shoot free if accompanied by a responsible, shooting adult.  We will open any time by appointment.

Our first Jumbo Bobwhite Quail Hunt will be Saturday, October 11, 9 a.m.  This is a field hunt.  We will release 10 quail per person.  You hunt your reserved fields ‘til noon, then after a soup and sandwich meal you can hunt anywhere.  Be sure to call ASAP,  because these fill up in a hurry.  The cost for this hunt is $80 per person.

As of January 1, 2009, we will have to raise the price of pheasants to $19 per bird.  Scratch birds will still be $9 each.  Hunts booked before December 31, 2008 for any date from August 15, 2008 through April 30, 2009 will lock in this year’s price — $18.

Please keep sending us your email addresses.  Updates and newsletters arrive 2 or 3 days before regular mail.  Our address is: tim@haymarsh.com

Pheasant season starts August 15!
